    Greek Lettuce Salad
    Greek Lettuce Salad

If there is a salad that goes well with every food then this is the one! This super healthy, cleansing Greek Lettuce Salad is ready in only 5 minutes. Light and refreshing with a crunchy texture and the most delicious dressing.

This Greek lettuce Salad is made with romaine lettuce, dill, parsley, spring onions, and lambs lettuce on top. Mixed with a light and subtle dressing, made of honey, lemon, apple cider vinegar, and extra virgin olive oil. Very simple and quick to make. It makes you run out of excuses, for not including a salad with your main meal.

In Greece, we always make this green salad using romaine lettuce. It's crunchier and doesn't get soggy as easy as butter lettuce or green leaf lettuce does. If you want an even crunchier salad texture, you can mix it along with some iceberg as well.

-You have to try it with some Tzatziki and grilled bread it's AMAZING!

Eating A Green Salad Before, After, Or Along With The Main Meal?

Each alternative has its own benefits. Eating a green salad before your meal is better for weight-loss since you will eat all the healthy greens while reducing your appetite for the main meal.

Research has shown that eating a salad after the main meal, aids digestion and helps to cleanse your gut from foods that seem to stick to its lining, like meat for example. Eating a green salad along with your main meal, has the same results as eating it after a meal, but with a smaller impact.

Turn This Greek Lettuce Salad Into A Main Meal

Since this Greek Lettuce Salad takes only 5 minutes to make you can easily use it as a salad base and spare a few more minutes to add some toppings. If you're on a low-calorie diet, you can top it with boiled chicken, eggs, avocado, beets, or crumbled feta. Add a few nuts of your preference and you're good to go!

    Course: Salad
    Cuisine: Greek
    Keyword: detox, gut-healing foods, salad
    Prep Time: 10 minutes
    Servings: 1 salad bowl
    Calories: 741kcal

    Ingredients

    For The Salad:

    • 1 small romaine lettuce
    • 2 spring onions
    • a handful of dill
    • a handful of parsley
    • Optional: lamb's lettuce

    For The Dressing:

    • 1 teaspoon honey
    • ½ lemon juice
    • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
    • 6 tablespoons olive oil
    • kosher salt
    • ground pepper

    Instructions

    For The Salad:

    • Wash lettuce and let it air dry so it will be airy and crunchy.
    • Finely chop the lettuce, dill, parsley, and spring onions and add to a salad bowl.

    For The Dressing:

    • In a bowl whisk together all of the ingredients for the dressing.
    • Pour over the greens and mix well.
    • Serve in a plate or salad bowl. Top with few lamb's lettuce leaves.

    Notes

-This isn’t supposed to be a soggy salad. Mix it up with the dressing, right when you are about to serve it. Do not let it stand as it will lose its crunchiness.
-Try and find a lettuce that looks fresh and crunchy with light green leaves. Don’t buy the very dark green and old ones.
